TUI Clarification
Regrettably, the TUI is being misquoted in the media in relation to a Pandemic bonus. To clarify, the TUI has not made a claim for a “Pandemic” payment (or any other bonus).
The Union has stated that if a wider discussion commences we would welcome the opportunity to participate in that process.
The TUI would, at any discussion, highlight the structural unfairness and inequalities that was clearly evident during the pandemic due to the continued lack of investment and underfunding of education over many years.
One issue we would raise, (as we have done repeatedly since 2011) is the unfairness inflicted by Government upon teachers and other public servants who entered the profession since 1 January 2011 i.e. different pay scales for the same work.
